I just installed the Forumax plugin and I'm wondering about the best way to configure it for my website. I've already activated it, but I'm not sure about the optimal settings.

Specifically, I'd like to know:

  1. What are the recommended initial settings?
  2. How do I set up the forum page?
  3. Can I customize the appearance to match my theme?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

<![CDATA[Feature Request: Dark Mode Support]]> https://example.com/forums/topic/dark-mode-support/ Fri, 03 Jan 2026 11:00:00 +0000 https://example.com/?post_type=topic&p=202 Hello Forumax team!

I'd love to see native dark mode support in the forum. Many websites now offer dark mode, and it would be great to have this option for users who prefer a darker interface.

Benefits:

  • Reduced eye strain during nighttime browsing
  • Better accessibility for some users
  • Modern look and feel
  • Battery savings on OLED screens

Is this something that could be considered for a future update?

I've seen other topics with a "Solved" badge but I can't find the option to do this myself.

Thanks!

UPDATE: Found it! You click the "Mark as Solved" button on any reply that solved your issue. This helps other users find solutions faster.

Great questions. Here's a quick setup guide:

1. Initial Settings:

  • Go to Forumax → Settings
  • Enable "Solved Topics" feature
  • Configure voting if needed
  • Set up your brand colors

2. Create Forum Page:

  • Create a new page (e.g., "Forums")
  • Add the [bbp-forum-index] shortcode
  • Or use the Forumax Elementor widgets

3. Customization:

The plugin works with most themes. You can customize colors through Forumax → Settings → Appearance.

Let me know if you need more help!

I'm planning to set up a community forum using Forumax and I'm looking for theme recommendations. What are the best WordPress themes that work well with forum plugins?

My requirements:

  • Clean, modern design
  • Good mobile responsiveness
  • Compatible with Elementor

Budget isn't a huge concern - I'm willing to invest in a premium theme if it's worth it. What are your favorites?

1. Use the Forum Widgets Wisely

Forumax comes with several Elementor widgets. The "Forum Tabs" widget is great for homepage displays.

2. Custom Styling

You can override the default styles using Elementor's custom CSS feature or the theme customizer.

3. Mobile Optimization

Make sure to preview your forum pages on mobile. Some adjustments may be needed for responsive layouts.

4. Ajax Loading

The Ajax forums feature reduces page reloads and creates a smoother user experience.

What tips do you have? Let's share our knowledge! 🤓

Here are some themes that work great with Forumax:

  1. Docy - Documentation theme with excellent forum support and dark mode
  2. Flavor - Clean and minimal design
  3. Hello Starter theme - Lightweight base for custom designs

For the best experience, I'd recommend Docy as it's designed specifically for documentation and community sites.

#bbpress-forums .bbp-forum-title a {
    color: #6831c1 !important;
}
#bbpress-forums .bbp-topic-title {
    font-weight: 700;

The theme CSS has higher specificity, so you need to match or exceed it. The #bbpress-forums container helps with that! 🎯

I'm experiencing 404 errors when trying to access single topic pages. The forum index page works fine, but clicking on any topic shows a 404 error.

Environment:

  • WordPress: 6.4.2
  • Forumax: 2.0.0
  • Theme: Astra
  • PHP: 8.2

What I've tried:

  1. Saved permalinks (Settings → Permalinks → Save Changes)
  2. Deactivated other plugins
  3. Checked .htaccess file

Any suggestions on what else I should check? Thanks!

This is a common issue. Try these additional steps:

  1. Go to Forumax → Settings → Pages and ensure the forum page is properly assigned
  2. Re-save permalinks twice (yes, twice in a row sometimes helps!)
  3. Check if your theme has any custom rewrite rules that might conflict

If that doesn't work, try temporarily switching to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Four to rule out theme conflicts.

Let me know if this helps! 🛠️

I'm Emma from Melbourne, Australia. I run a small design blog and I'm looking to add a community forum to engage more with my readers.

A bit about me:

  • 🎨 Graphic designer for 8 years
  • 💻 WordPress enthusiast
  • ☕ Coffee addict (Melbourne stereotype, I know!)
  • 🌏 Love connecting with people globally

I discovered Forumax through a friend's recommendation and I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. The solved topics feature is exactly what I need for my Q&A section!

Looking forward to being part of this community. Feel free to say hi! 😊

I completely agree about the solved topics feature - it's super helpful for support-oriented forums. You'll love it!

Pro tip: Check out the Forumax Pro version when you're ready - the notifications and analytics features are fantastic for community engagement.

<![CDATA[🔥 Top 5 Performance Tips for Large Forums]]> https://example.com/forums/topic/performance-tips-large-forums/ Fri, 03 Jan 2026 20:00:00 +0000 https://example.com/?post_type=topic&p=225 After managing several large-scale forums, here are my top performance optimization tips! 🚀

1. Enable Caching

Use a caching plugin like WP Rocket or W3 Total Cache. This alone can improve load times by 50-70%.

2. Optimize Database

Schedule weekly database optimization. Clean up post revisions, transients, and spam comments.

3. Use a CDN

Cloudflare's free plan is great for static assets. Premium CDNs like BunnyCDN are even faster.

4. Lazy Load Images

Enable lazy loading for user avatars and embedded images. WordPress has this built-in now!

5. Consider Redis Object Cache

For forums with 10k+ topics, Redis object caching is a game-changer for reducing database queries.

Bonus: Monitor your performance with Query Monitor plugin - it's invaluable for identifying bottlenecks!

Quick question: Is there a Discord or Slack channel for real-time discussions?

<![CDATA[Reply To: How to Install and Configure Forumax?]]> https://example.com/forums/topic/install-configure-forumax/#post-401 Sat, 04 Jan 2026 09:30:00 +0000 https://example.com/?post_type=reply&p=401 I also had some trouble with the initial setup. Here's what worked for me:

  1. Make sure bbPress is installed and activated first
  2. Then activate Forumax
  3. Go through the Setup Wizard - it makes everything so much easier!

The wizard literally takes 2 minutes and configures everything perfectly. Highly recommend using it instead of manual configuration.

<![CDATA[Reply To: Feature Request: Dark Mode Support]]> https://example.com/forums/topic/dark-mode-support/#post-402 Sat, 04 Jan 2026 10:15:00 +0000 https://example.com/?post_type=reply&p=402 +1 for dark mode! It's a must-have feature in 2026.

I'd also love to see:

  • Auto dark mode based on system preferences
  • Customizable dark mode colors
  • Per-user preference settings

Would be happy to contribute to the development if it's open source! 🌙

<![CDATA[Reply To: 🎉 Forumax 2.0 Released - Complete Rebranding!]]> https://example.com/forums/topic/forumax-2-release/#post-403 Sat, 04 Jan 2026 11:00:00 +0000 https://example.com/?post_type=reply&p=403 Congratulations on the 2.0 release! 🎊

I've been using bbp-core for a while and I'm super excited about this rebranding. The new dashboard looks absolutely amazing - much more modern and user-friendly.

Quick question: Will there be a migration guide for existing bbp-core users? I want to make sure I don't lose any data when updating.

Keep up the great work! 👏

<![CDATA[Reply To: 🔥 Top 5 Performance Tips for Large Forums]]> https://example.com/forums/topic/performance-tips-large-forums/#post-404 Sat, 04 Jan 2026 12:30:00 +0000 https://example.com/?post_type=reply&p=404 Thanks for sharing these tips, John! Very helpful for my upcoming project.

I'd add one more tip: Image Optimization

Many forums get slow because users upload huge images. Consider:

  • Setting max upload dimensions
  • Using WebP format for better compression
  • Implementing automatic image optimization on upload

Plugins like ShortPixel or Imagify work great for this! 📸
