Time Back Back to Opt-Ins Back to Templates Back to email templates Back to forms Back to overview Background Color Base Font Size Basic Information Before accepting an opt-in, look up the recipient's email domain via DNS and confirm it has a working mail server (MX record, or A-record as fallback). Results are cached: 24 h for valid domains, 1 h for invalid ones. DNS lookup errors fail open — a temporary resolver outage will not block real subscribers. Before sending a confirmation email, the plugin checks whether the email domain has valid MX (Mail Exchange) records. If no MX record is found, it falls back to an A record check. This catches common typos like "gmial.com" or "gogle.com" before wasting email resources. DNS results are cached to minimize lookup overhead. If a DNS lookup fails or times out, the domain is treated as valid (fail-open) to avoid false positives. Before you go — what went wrong?
